Rwanda’s Ministry of Health describes a one-year internship programme for graduates in general medicine and surgery or dental surgery. The programme page explains the route and lists training facilities. It is a guide to the process, not confirmation that an individual placement is accepting applications today.

Check your qualification and recommendations

The ministry says applicants need relevant qualifications and recommendations from an academic institution. Its description covers graduates who completed the relevant degrees in Rwanda or abroad. Ask the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council about recognition of your particular qualification before assuming you are eligible.

Obtain the provisional licence

According to the ministry, candidates obtain a provisional internship licence from the Rwanda Medical and Dental Council and then apply through the Health Workforce Management System. Follow the current council and ministry instructions; document requirements and intake dates should be checked with them rather than guessed from an old announcement.

Understand what the year involves

The ministry describes rotations for medical interns across major clinical departments, including internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology. Its page lists accredited centres by province, and separate facilities for dental graduates. Ask the relevant body to confirm current accreditation and available places.

Before you accept

Confirm the location, reporting date, supervision, costs and whether any allowance applies to your placement. Use contact details from the ministry and regulator, not from an unsolicited message. Keep copies of documents submitted and never pay an individual promising a guaranteed place.
