Rwanda's Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration is recruiting for 508 posts across 45 job adverts. Applications close on 19 November 2026, and everything runs through the directorate's own careers portal.

The biggest advert by far is Immigration Officers, with 240 posts in Kigali and at border posts. The work is checking travel documents, deciding who may enter, stay or leave, and detecting illegal entry and false documents.

After that come Socio-economic Officers with 65 posts, Digital and Physical Records Management Officers with 31, Information Officers with 29, Geopolitical Officers with 22, Data Scientists with 13, Administrative Assistants with 10, Junior Researchers with 10 and IT Officers with 9. These are listed in Kigali.

Smaller adverts go well beyond border work. They include nurses, physiotherapists, finance officers, legal officers, translators, quantity surveyors, agriculturalists, back-end and front-end developers and an AI engineer. Many have only 1 or 2 posts.

Read the age limit first. Every advert says you must be Rwandan and 25 or younger, and the portal checks your 16-digit National ID. This year that means you were born in 2001 or later. The portal also sets a minimum age of 18.

The general requirements also ask for an application letter, a CV, a passport photo and a copy of your diploma and transcript. You mustn't have a criminal record, or have been blacklisted or dismissed from public service. You need an advanced diploma, a bachelor's or a master's in a relevant field.

Each advert adds its own requirements, so open yours before you apply. Immigration Officers, for example, ask for a bachelor's degree in one of a long list of fields, such as law, economics, IT, criminology or languages. The adverts don't publish a salary, so we don't state one.

Applying is free. Nobody should pay anyone for a job, a place on a list or help getting hired. Apply only on the official portal.
