Job seekers in Rwanda often have accounts on the MIFOTRA e-recruitment portal, the police portal and a few employer sites, each with its own dates. Add a job, its closing date and where you applied. The tracker shows what closes soon and who you should follow up with. It stays in this browser, and you can save a copy as a spreadsheet.
Work back from the closing date
Some papers take longer than the time an advert stays open. A criminal record certificate takes 21 days on Irembo. An RIB clearance takes 3 days. An HEC equivalence takes 10 working days once your file is complete. If an advert closes in two weeks and you don't yet hold a criminal record certificate, you won't have one in time. So start those papers before you need them.
What to write down each time
- The exact job title and any reference number.
- Where you applied, and the login you used for that portal.
- The closing date and the date you applied.
- A copy of the advert, because adverts disappear once they close.
- Your next step and when you'll do it.
When to follow up
Portals such as the police one let you track your status in your dashboard, so check there first. For an application you sent by email, a short polite message a week or two after the closing date is reasonable, unless the advert says not to.
Questions people ask
Where is my tracker saved?
Only in this browser, on this device. Clearing your browser data removes it. Use Export to CSV for a copy that you keep.
Can I see it on my phone and my laptop?
Not automatically, because nothing reaches our servers. Export the file on one device and keep it where you can open it on the other.
